Happy Friday loves! I have been getting lots of questions about my current skincare routine whenever I share some of my favourite products on my instal-stories and I decided it's time to do an updated skincare routine! Over the last 2 years, skincare has become a huge passion and interest of mine. I struggled with really awful hormonal acne for about a year, and I've slowly cleared it up with the help of a naturopath, good quality vitamins/diet rich in nutrients AND using really great skincare. Once I cleared up my acne I was left with tons of scarring and dark spots that the acne left behind, so if you are interested in a bright, clear and even complexion (who wouldnt be?!) then keep reading!
In the morning I like to keep it super simple with my favourite cleanser from Perricone MD (if you haven't heard about Dr. Perricone's products I highly suggest checking them out- I actually read his book "The Perricone Prescription" about 3 years ago and got so many great tips from him. I cleanse my face with my clarisonic in the morning! Once I dry my face (with a clean face towel!) I use this toner by Skinceuticals. It helps to balance the pH of your skin and to prep it for your serums/moisturizers. Next, I use a lactic acid serum (this one by the Ordinary is ok.. not great but I'm trying to use it up! I usually like to use Good Genes by Sunday Riley. Then I follow up with my favourite sunscreen by ELTA md and then finish with foundation! Since I have oily/combination skin I like to keep my morning skincare pretty simple to ensure that I am not going to have my makeup sliding everywhere by 10 am- no thank you :)
For my night time skincare I tend to use a few more intensive products to address my skincare concerns which are evening my skin tone and fading dark spots.
I use my Vitamin C cleanser again with my clarisonic (I use my clarisonic morning and night and have never had any issues- my skin is not sensitive to exfoliation at all, but if yours is, I would only use it every other day or so..)
Then I follow up with my new favourite dark spot toner by Ole Henriksen. The product reviews for this toner were AMAZING so I knew I had to try it! I have seen great results. I put a few drops directly in my hand and pat it into my face- I apply toner directly rather than using a cotton pad because I find it wastes less product and lasts way longer that way.
Next, I use my favourite Vitamin C serum by Perricone MD. This serum also had incredible reviews and I was looking for a new vitamin C serum and this one has worked wonders. It contains Vitamin C Ester which you can read all about in Dr. Perricone's book, but it's overall much more effective than normal vitamin C when applied topically and also taken internally.
Next I use Sunday Riley's sleeping night oil which contains retinol. I have found that using retinol has helped improve my complexion and skin tone and I love that this one is natural and has lots of other great ingredients in it.
I then follow up with my moisturizer (loving this one too!!!) as it also contains a bit of retinol- and seriously makes you wake up to glory, beautiful skin!
Lastly, I will apply my VIIcode Oxygen Eye mask under my eyes. These are INCREDIBLE! You apply them after your skincare routine (ensuring not to get any oils or moisturizers near where you will be applying the eye masks). Once you apply them to your under-eyes you will immediately feel the cooling and refreshing effects. I wear them to sleep in for a maximum of 8 hours. Or, you can wear them for 2-4 hours in the evening time before bed. Since using these eye masks I have noticed a drastic improvement of my dark circles as well as a reduction in under-eye puffiness when I wake up. My eye area is visibly brighter, plumped and smoothed. I HIGHLY recommend these- they also have amazing reviews, so if you've been looking into trying a new product to address your under-eye concerns, give VIIcode eye masks a try and see for yourself! In addition to my morning and night time skincare routines I love to do a mask or a peel every 2-3 nights.
Herbivore Blue Tansy mask is one of my all-time favourites that I have repurchased multiple times. It's all natural and great for resurfacing your skin. I love to use this at times when I am breaking out or noticing texture issues!
Herbivore Brighten mask is another one of my faves! It is amazing for evening your complexion (I've also repurchased this one many times!). I instantly notice my skin glowing and more even whenever I use this!
I also LOVE these peel pads for when I want a deep clean/peel to resurface my skin and freshen it up after a long day. I use these before bed and wake up with GLOWING skin!
Eye masks: I mentioned these above but also love to treat myself to using an eye mask once in a while to refresh my under-eye area as I find I sometimes neglect that area of my face! LOVE THESE!
I hope you enjoyed this post- let me know what your favourite skin care products are that you can't live without! I'm always interested in trying new products!
